The KINO story
KINOATHENS
KINOATHENS was designed in NY in 2013 and only made it into a reality during the COVID pandemic in 2021. It started with film screening of rare films and evolved itself into a film festival running in Athens every March.

Mission
KINOATHENS through its visionary programming intents to enhance independent filmmaking with all year round activities. KINO Athens Film Society will establish a weekly gathering in Athens for film lovers who seek to be challenged by cinema and place an Independent Film Festival all year round taking place in March.

Vision
KINO (Independent Film Festival of Athens) focuses on unusual films which challenge their viewers. We believe in the power of films to inspire change within our society. KINO believes that independent filmmaking is vital to galvanize communal discourse and is committed to curating equitable and inclusive programs for all. Via screenings, Q&As, talks, exhibitions, KINO intents to enhance dialogue, promote learning and create a community based on cinema. KINO’s program will centre on daring filmmaking that embraces fearless artistic crossover works. We constantly look for fresh films, visual innovations, daring experimentation and new approaches to the visual arts. KINO supports freedom enhancing cinema and new methods of visual artistic creation. We commit ourselves to staying free and open to continuous discovery.
